As part of the vision of the Municipal Government of Mayagüez to transform the city into an accessible, vital metropolis, the municipality has initiated an Alternatives Analysis looking at a number of corridor alternatives in a study entitled the Mayagüez Transit Study.
The intent of this study is to continue to grow the TIM system, providing greater access and opportunities for public transportation to the thousands of citizens who live in, work in, study in, and visit our city.
In the first stage of this study, as provided by agreement with the Federal Transportation Administration (FTA), the municipality will ultimately identify a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) for implementation.
The study will last about 17 months. It consists of the analysis of alternatives for corridors from east to west and north to south, including technical reports, the involvement of citizens, and environmental scrutiny, among others. The LPA will be developed in accordance with guidelines established by the FTA.
We invite you to click on the maps to get to know the proposed alternative routes.
